Moving from imaginative realism to deep, deep stylization. Today's artist is a colour and composition master. Did the visual development for “The Incredibles” among many other amazing projects.

Oops, forgot to cross post this yesterday! Just a quick reminder that the tumblr is the source for these!
Today's artist works at ArenaNet on Guild Wars 2. She's pretty awesome, I met her last year at one of the TLC Workshops in Seattle. I look forward to seeing more of her work, and getting to know her better.
Today's artist is one that has influenced an entire generation of sci-fi painters. He's been working since the 1970s, and continues to create amazing illustrations and designs. If you follow the concept artists who worked on “Halo”, I'm sure you'll see some of their influences here.
My friend Sinan reminded me this week of today's artist. Not only is he a fantastic draftsman and colourist, but his comic and stories are amazing. This is a man who has thought a LOT about what it means to be alive, and he is exceptionally good at sharing that. I spent hours yesterday reading his blog.
Today's artist works at Pixar, and has recently finished a movie with Dice Tsutsumi called “The Dam Keeper.” I love his use of colour, and impressionist-style brushstrokes.
Ok, today's artist was one of the “Nine Old Men” of Disney, and creator of some of the best animation of all time. I love his linework so much.
Today's artist works in comic books - most well known being “The Crogan Adventures” series. I met him at HeroesCon in 2011 or 2012 (time!). I found his sketchbook to be incredibly helpful to me…It's not really just an artist sketchbook, because he talks a lot about his thoughts, his process and his technique. On top of the narrative storytelling, I consider him to be an amazing character designer - in fact, that may be what draws me to his work the most.
For me, today's artist is intrinsically tied to James Bond. He's noted for his pin ups (don't search at work unless you are ok with seeing half naked women), but he's done over 1200 book covers, movie posters and illustrations. HIs style is hugely influential on people like Kevin Dart, and his ability to vary detail from impressionist to photo-real is astounding.
Edmund DuLac was a golden age illustrator, and the only other working one that Arthur Rackham felt competitive with. Similar style to Rackham, lots of pen and watercolour, but I find DuLac's stuff a bit more classical and quieter.
Today's artist truly is a master storyteller and artist. I've spoken with him several times in the last couple of years, and he has always blown me away with his insight, his kindness and his abilities. He's currently working at Pixar, and is definitely one of the reasons they keep making such beautiful films.
One of the things I like most about going to cons is finding new artists…either at the convention, or from Stuart Ng books ;) That's where I found today's artist. In a strange case of convergence, not 3 hours after I bought Jeff's book, someone I follow on twitter posted a link to Jeff's blog, where he was talking about working on Wildstar. Some damn fine character design and visdev.
