I was flipping through my "Art of Guardians of the Galaxy" book before bed last night, and was reminded of today's artist. I'm pretty sure he's working on Star Wars now....
I actually had to check to make sure I hadn't posted today's artist already, as he is a huge inspiration for me. I love his cartooning, and the sense of fun that permeates his work. I love that even with the fun, there can be a darkness too :)
Today's artist draws some of the best women I've seen in comics. You may know of him from "Strangers in Paradise", but I tend to prefer his sci-fi series "Echo" or his current horror series "Rachel Rising." GREAT expressions, great "real" people drawing.
I met today's artist at IMC this summer, and saw him again last weekend at IlluxCon. Such an awesome sense of humour, I love his editorial style paintings.
Continuing my "traditional painter who works currently in illustration" series with today's artist. Again, I got the opportunity to see his work at IlluxCon this year, and his colours blew me away. Some seriously good stuff.
Finally got to meet today's artist in person at IlluxCon. I've been following him for years, mostly because he's a kick-ass matte painter on top of an amazing illustrator and oil painter. I love his work, there is such a sense of scale and cinema to all his images.
Today's artist is another guy I've been talking to at IlluxCon, he's done a LOT of Magic: the Gathering work in oils...it's definitely neat to be able to see the actual paintings as physical objects!
Today's artist is a crazy print-maker. Now that this sort of thing is done digitally, we might not appreciate how much work goes into making traditional prints...but this guy is a MASTER.
Today's artist has some amazing animation work under his belt, and some AMAZING gesture drawings. I first heard his name via "Thought of You", but since then I've met him at CTN Expo and looked at his other stuff...stunning is the word that comes to mind.
