Artist Series - Day 36: Ty Carter

Well, if you know me, you probably could guess that I could practically fill this entire year with people working in the animation industry, particularly visual development folks...because of that, I've tried to broaden the posts, because I really do look at a lot more than that....

But, today, I'm hitting up an amazing vis-dev guy, Ty Carter.  Yesterday, I saw his entry for the #sketch_dailies "Bonnie and Clyde" topic...and it blew me away, and reminded me just how much I love the way he thinks.

I met him at CTN Expo in November, and I definitely look forward to speaking with him again!

Artist Series - Day 35: Larry MacDougall

I first ran into Larry MacDougall's art on Magic: The Gathering cards in the Lorwyn expansion back in 2007.  The man draws a mean elf.  Since then, I think he's moved away from the more violent fantasy stuff, but I still love his work.

As with many artists, I think his sketchy pencils are my favorite.

Artist Series - Day 34: Eyvind Earle

Today is another one that my animation friends will be WELL familiar with, the incomparable Eyvind Earle.  This guy did a cross-country bike ride when he was 21, and paid for it by doing watercolour paintings along the way...then he worked for Disney, where you will recognize his hand in the backgrounds of "Sleeping Beauty."  This guy is one of my massive art heroes.

Artist Series - Day 33: David Trampier

Today is for my old-school gaming friends....You know who you are, you have a box of Dragon magazines from the 80s in your attic somewhere....and you read "Wormy."

This guy wrote and drew the comic strip "Wormy" for years, and then suddenly went off the grid.  Cheques were returned unopened.  No one could find him.  After 1988, he effectively disappeared.

Which is a DAMN SHAME, because Wormy was one of my biggest inspirations when I read that magazine and dreamed of world building.
